Shower with limited mobility

Project information

We have a growing older population, and the fear of falling in the bathroom when showering is the main reason why elderly people tend to sit down when taking a shower.

This makes it harder to maintain body temperature, because the water spread is not the same as it is when standing. Implementing an aid product at an early stage can prevent falling accidents, and it is also a mental barrier for needing help later in life.

In my thesis I have explored how we can make it easier and more comfortable for elderly people to shower. The result is a flexible shower panel with nozzles that are easy to position, depending on if you are standing up or sitting down while taking a shower. The concept has a slim and discreet design that fits in most bathrooms, aiming to blend into the environment.
